Locally, we haven't started the year off with a bang in new listings and sales volume, but that was never the expectation.  The expectation is for a strong SPRING season.  Nationally things have started off well with price reductions starting the year much lower.  This means sellers are feeling the demand, and don't believe they need to lower their price in order to sell.  Altos Research, a real estate data company, is predicting a 15% increase in home sales growth in 2024.  Keep in mind, we are working from three years of very low levels, nonetheless, growth is growth and 15% ain't nothin'.  I, for one, am very much looking forward to it.  I'd like to see more sales, more activity, more interest, more helping of others, more pursuit of the right house and the quick sale for most money.  Mortgage rates will be key.  CPI data comes out tomorrow.  The first release of the new year, which could provide a decent move in either direction for the 10yr treasury yield, thus our beloved 30yr mortgage rates.  Let's see!
